At the ATP world tour finals in London, world number one Roger Federer had to come from a set down to beat Fernando Verdasco. Scotsman Andy Murray’s clash against Juan Martin Del Potro saw the same scenario.

Roger Federer – Fernando Verdasco (4-6, 7-5, 6-1)

Fernando Verdasco was oozing confidence at the start and matched top-seed Federer in some long rallies.

A sublime backhand eventually handed the Spaniard the first set, 6-4.

But Federer got his rhythm going in the second and found enough to edge it to 7-5 to level the match.

The Swiss then powered through the third, racing to a 4-0 lead before finally taking it 6-1, as Verdasco had nothing to respond with in the decider.

Andy Murray – Juan Martin Del Potro (6-3, 3-6, 6-2)

The first match of the day involved local hero Andy Murray and gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about.

The Brit faced US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro and won the first set 6-3.

He was then on the back foot in the second, as the Argentinean won that by the same scoreline.

So it went to a deciding set, but it wasn’t even close, as Murray easily sealed it 6-2.
