Five Russians remain among the top ten tennis players in the Women’s Tennis Association’s Rankings announced on March 23.

US star Serena Williams managed to secure the top spot as Russian Dinara Safina missed the chance to become World No. 1 after losing to Victoria Azarenko in the quarter-finals of the PNB Paribas Open last week.

Meanwhile, the winner of PNB Paribas Open Vera Zvonareva moved one place up in the rankings, dropping Serena Williams’ sister Venus to sixth position in the rankings.
