Former tennis queen Justine Henin has announced her return to professional sport next year.
Henin, who has claimed seven Grand Slam titles as well as an Olympic gold in 2004, had been retired for just over a year, but is now looking forward to clinching an eighth Grand Slam title.
The announcement, made on Belgian TV, comes after her `definitive decision' to leave the courts last year and barely a week after compatriot Kim Clijsters won the U.S. Open following a two-year break.
The 27-year-old plans to play two exhibition tournaments in Charleroi and Dubai before competing in official WTA events.
“A flame I thought was extinguished forever suddenly lit up again,” she said.

Sharapova claims first title after return to sportFormer tennis queen Maria Sharapova has won the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo to claim her 20th career WTA title and the first one after her comeback to the sport. |
Glad to have her back. She's a tough, relentless competitor and a refeshing change from the Williams tribe.
There must be something in Belgium. Could be the water. First, Kim and now Justine. Or is it something else? Wasn't it Kim's camp that let out that rumor about Justine and drug and then the sudden "retirement"? Well, Marion Jones never tested positive for drugs, a fact she always harped on till the truth - not through testing - was out. Funmi
