Dinara Safina remains on top of the women’s tennis rankings, despite her main rival Serena Williams recently claiming another major title at Wimbledon.
Even with three of the last four Grand Slam titles in her possession, Serena Williams is just second in Monday's WTA rankings, while Safina, who was runner-up at this year’s Australian and French Opens, and made it to the last four at Wimbledon, is still sitting on top.
Elsewhere, Serena’s elder sister Venus is third, with Russian’s Elena Dementieva and Svetlana Kuznetsova in 4th and 5th spots respectfully.
In the men’s rankings, 15-time Grand Slam champ Roger Federer has reclaimed the first slot, as his main rival Rafael Nadal is still suffering from a knee injury.
Meanwhile, it’s been a disappointment for Russia’s two former best players – Marat Safin and Mikhail Yuzhny. They dropped to 60th and 69th respectfully, after their unconvincing performances in London.
