It’s been a happy day for Russian tennis fans at the Kremlin Cup as Mikhail Youzhny has guaranteed the men’s singles crown remains in the tournament's home city for the sixth consecutive year.
The Muscovite was just too good for Serb challenger Janko Tipsarevic in Sunday's final, despite going down in the first set.
An explosive second and a steady showing in the decider handed Youzhny his fifth career title.
Tipsarevic, meanwhile, will have to keep searching for his first.
In the women’s game, Francesca Schiavone can smile easy. The Italian disposed of Olga Govortsova in the decider to clinch the title in Moscow.
Schiavone breezed through the field in Moscow overall, never dropping a set enroute to her second career title.
