Arkansas oil spill: Exxon reacts to tax 'loophole,' pledges ‘to cover all costs’

02.04.2013 21:30

The central Arkansas spill caused by Exxon’s aging Pegasus pipeline has reportedly unleashed 10,000 barrels of Canadian heavy crude - but a technicality says it's not oil, letting the energy giant off the hook from paying into a national cleanup fund.

THE most profitable corporation in history is trying to wiggle out of paying for cleanup. Figures.

David Burgess 15.04.2013 23:08

Just because the product is not classified as 'oil' does not mean they should not clean it up. It's their damned mess. Fix it.

Exxon's pipeline is Exxon's responsibility. This pipeline is too old and needs to be replaced in my opinion. Where's the law about maintenance?

Citizen, really?

Oh, ya, Brit, that's okay... no biggie... 1/10 of the BP thing is no problem.

Britanyand Nick 04.04.2013 11:15

You know honestly this exxon spill is not as bad as the bp spill. My fiance iis in this career field and has worked on the Bp spill, the enbridge spill, he is up there now working on this spill. Shortly after will be heading to Oklahama for a five month long project. I feel for those
Who were unable to go home because of this but honestly it could have been 10 times as bad where it could have taken months to clean up like some of the other spills.

Conflict of interest between IRS and Exxon.

What company is that, why does it matter?

Citizen Right 04.04.2013 06:03

Clean it up. Inspect the pipelines. Move on, for Christ's sake.

Gasoline: One of America's top exports. We pay more so oil companies can collect higher profits.
