Well my friends, today is the day that I have decided to grace you with a new blog post. I know that you have been waiting on baited breath.

There is something that has been driving me crazy recently, so I thought I might as well write about it here. It has come to my attention that women are not allowed to be sarcastic. [GASP!]

If you have read any of my other posts, you already know that they are generally dripping with sarcasm, as are my appearances on The Alyona Show. And recently I have noticed that my sarcasm is either completely lost, and people think I am being serious, or it is interpreted as cocky. Why is it completely acceptable for men to be sarcastic, but not women?

At first I thought, is it possible that I am not good at being sarcastic? But I quickly remembered that my sarcasm has been referred to as an art on multiple occasions. Actually to some I am seen as a sarcastic genius.It is interesting to me also that in person, my sarcasm is never mistaken for sincerity. For example when I say to the woman on her call phone in the bathroom “aren’t the acoustics in here the best” she knows exactly what I really mean.

So I decided to do a little research (2 Google searches) about women’s inability to be sarcastic. Funny thing though, all I came up with were articles by random guys in their mom’s basement talking about how women do not have the mental capacity to be sarcastic. Well, that and articles about how gross women who attempt to be sarcastic are.

Well that got my little brain thinking… why are men so threatened by sarcastic women? This question is one that I clearly don’t have the mental capacity, or chromosomes to answer, but still I think it is a valid question. I am by no means a feminist, actually some would say I’m quite far from one but this is one inequality I simply will not stand for.

If anyone out there knows of a scientific study into this disturbing phenomenon please do pass it my way. I will not rest until this injustice has been righted. I will not sleep until all the sarcastic women in the world have the right to use the God given gift of sharp tongued wit.
