Liquid Salt Thorium reactors can react the U-233, insure sufficient production of U-233 from Thorium and manage fission waste products.
Properly done the Thorium fuel cycle will power human needs centuries after Uranium becomes an interesting foot note in history.
The Iranian people should use their cultural wisdom and turn this set back into a leadership position in Thorium technology.
This article prescribes a very sober and noble approach to Iran's nuclear venture, but I'm afraid that the tension between Iran and West, is far more than the nuclear issue---an it stems directly from the Iranian Revolution beginning in 1977.
The issue of the WMDs in Iran is just a precursor to justify an all out assault against a regime that for decades, has had the courage to face off oligarchs in US and Israel. Iran knew that by continuing to allow the Shah to remain in power in during the pre-revolution era, the country would suck out the life of their country to please Western powers: no different than Cuba's story when the dictator, Fulgencio Batista, was the US's baby.
So, the same narration is with Iran. Iran tells the West "screw you!" and the US and it's allies respond with their typical MO, destroy their civilization through Embargos and Sanctions, and force them kneel on Western demands. This is nothing new, except that unlike other countries, the nuclear issue would give Iran security and would definitely change the geopolitics in the region. No longer would Israel be the frontrunner to be the only superpower in the region: they would be at the same level as Iran.
The bottom line is this, Iran can quite it's nuclear ambient right now, but Western powers will never be satisfied with that--they never are. The political and military machine of Western countries, when it comes to foreign policies, has been the same through the centuries: a wolf wrapped in sheep clothing, and unleashed once inside.
Countries, slowly, but steadily, are learning that you just can’t trust the so call “free nations,” and rightly so.

Some warcrazed people are demanding an attack on Iran before they get the AtomicBomb. Do we really want to keep attackinga culture that doesn’t play fair? Theyhave suicide bombers, access to nuclear weapons, they terrorize our citizenshere and abroad, and they go to heaven if we kill one of them, not the run ofthe mill army. The warmongers in ourcountry forget that these days all wars are global. Weapons from third world counties are a realthreat to our shores. Terrorists from acountry that has a population that still lives in earthen huts blew a hole inour defenses. The threats to ourhomeland will continue as long as we are hostile. We have to make peace with the people of themiddle-east and Islam, these religious wars have to end. The people of our world are connected in toomany ways to continue to pick on the third world countries. We have to learn to live together, war isjust plan crazy.
Thank You for this article. I agree that Iran is not the problem of wanting nuclear power. This biggest tragedy of the Earth has been to allow nuclear power plants and bombs.
One of the best solutions to solve the need to generate electricity in Iran would be to simply go there and build a Geothermal Power plant. Working with the natural heat of the shell of the Earth can easily create steam to generate power with any pollution. Clean free electricity can easily be generated.
How many people have to be murdered because they want to have electricity??
Thorium is a positive solution irrespective of iran. Question is, can it be implemented in enough time to meet demand now around the world. I think the west doesnt have the capability to build thorium reactors at this time.
I think the BRICS will use thorium, and good luck to them, to avoid all war between nations, we need an alternative propulsion fuel, which i can only see as water used in an implosion energy design

islam does not believe in peace unless u are a muslim aswel. so while u live in your fantasy world, the rest of us will fight for freedom and to stop evil from sprouting.
evil prevails when good men stand idely by.
sure you can wait for them to get nukes, no problem there . what happens when they have nukes? OH but israel has 200 nukes ... clearly u dont realise so they may have nukes but their nukes are to protect themselves from arab invaders . look at the previous wars they have had. now tell me in a situation similar what would you do. crazies should not wield power to utterly destroy. islam wands israel dead. islam has a jihad against the west. stop trying to be buddy buddy with them. let another war happen and see how it pans out. look at the advancements the last one made . it can only be better for the future. those who say war does nothing is a lie - war makes u advance. why do u think the west is advanced? because we kept having wars with eachother . bigger better stronger.
If we are to allow our leaders to make unreasoned assumptions we have allowed another portion of our freedoms to die. If we recognize that our leaders are making outrageous claims then we have a duty to act with that outrage and to persuade them to stop.
The USA will not even talk to Iran because of the Iranian Revolution of 1979 where the Iranians rose up and kicked out the CIA that controlled Iran through terror including assassinations and death squads. If you don't know this you ought to.
The thing remembered by the Americans, though, is the hostage taking by Iranian student activists. What the news media denied the American public was the demands of America by these students. They wanted America to admit its provocative terror over Iranians from the CIA coup of a democratic coup in 1953 and it wanted an American apology.
This demand was made by student activists who had friends thrown off their schools' roofs by CIA assets and operatives.
The USA owes one hell of a lot more than just an admission and an apology in my books!
U-238 is used in American and British (and other) in weapons and armour. U-238 becomes dangerous when used in these manners as it incinerates to a great degree into a talcum like powder when fired or hit by a shell. In a war zone the powder heavily infects great areas with this powder which easily puffs into the air and is ingested with ease. It also infects food and water.
Americans inspecting vehicles having been contaminated in battle are required to wear hazmat suites but the USA continues to say that U-238 is no problem. However, the facts speak against this as birth defects in Iraq are 80% in some areas and an average of 25% overall and this is directly related to the amounts of U-238 in the various areas. Rare cancers are quickly on the rise and evidence points clearly to the effects of U-238 having been used in battle.
This is genocide.
Thorium is also not fissile so will need Uranium or Plutonium for the reaction. So Iran will need materials that can be used for bomb for their Thorium Reactors.
Once Uranium becomes uneconomical to mine, thorium reactors will cease.
