Former CIA agent John Kiriakou pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to crimes related to blowing the whistle on the US government’s torture of suspected terrorists and was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison.

It gets pretty questionable in the land of supposed super democracy when a person who whistle-blows torture gets jailed and the torturer walks free and the government can make torture legal with so many euphemisms to make it seem something other than what it is.

But who still believes that the US is democratic?
