US director of national intelligence James Clapper has sent a letter to senators in which he apologizes for providing “erroneous” information on NSA data collection, but the director is still under scrutiny for his inconsistent statements.

perjury: the willful giving of false testimony under oath or affirmation, before a competent tribunal, upon a point material to a legal inquiry.
And what are the consequences for such? Of course it would have to be across the board for all in DC, corporations, etc, who continue to do same.
