Two children, one woman killed in Colorado shooting

Two young children and one woman have been killed in an apparent shooting at a house in the US state of Colorado. Another child was critically wounded. All of the children were under the age of ten.

­Denver’s WGRZ news has reported that the injured child has been taken to the hospital and is undergoing surgery.

The bodies were found inside a house in the northern section of Denver around 6:55am local time.

The shooting appears to have been an isolated incident and there’s no indication that a shooter is on the loose, police Major Crimes Cmdr. Ron Saunier told AP.

"Is there a mass killer or someone running around? At this time we don't believe so," he said.

The area has been blocked off by police as they investigate the situation.

The shooting comes in the midst of a heated national debate on gun control following the December Sandy Hook massacre which killed 20 young children and six adults in Newtown, Connecticut.
