First Responders ask federal administrations to consider adding secondary containment to rail tank cars used to transport chlorine gas, providing lifesaving safety to First Responders and the public they serve. See First Responders Comments at PETITION C KIT.

Inspection and maintenance is usually a priority for rail operations. With hundreds of thousands of miles across the country it's a massive undertaking. Many of the main lines have a computerized system that can detect a break in the rails electronically. There's lots of other ways to intentionally cause one. Whether it was a pro-pipeline terrorist or foreign, there has been a lot of these. Our aging infrastructure will be our Achilles Heel. For decades trillions were spent on destroying the infrastructure of other nations than repairing our own.

Someone could be hammering rail road spikes into the rail joints, on turns it will derail a train. They did away with most joints I dont how much.

See kids, this is what happens when you put coins on the track and try to flatten them out.

Ronin was the one that derailed the train! He has all but admitted it, call 911.

Perhaps instead of starting wars all over the place, a few dollars could be invested in upgrading your infra structure. I could'nt believe in 1976 , that i was still able to see a man with a red flag walking in front of a train. (Indianapolis) The railroad track was so bent and uneven, it looked like the loco would fall off the rails at walking pace.

[quote name='Ronin Mielecki' time='14.02.2014 01:43']there might be a lot less spills of crude oil based products. may if there were more pipelines built(keystone and others).

Did you ever see so many train wrecks of oil tankers? (Before the Keystone Pipeline was being resisted, I mean.) I don't remember any, until KXL reared its greasy head.

Norfolk Southern is not New Jersey based. It is Virginia based.
