not sure what is going on..... signed lease for .88 acre almost 2 years ago.... initial drilling and I am changing my water softener filter every 2 to 3 weeks instead of every couple months.... now I am without water again. I have a 20 ft deep well in a natural spring area .... lived here 16 years and filled my 20 foot above ground pool for years even during drought with no problems..... now a year after initial drilling I am without water and when I do have water it was full of particles .... not happy and don't know where to even begin to complain.....

If i pump methane gas into the domestic water supply in a fracking excecutive,s home i would get prosecuted for endangering life and a dozen other charges !
But if he does it to me he just get paid a big bonus and keeps buying off the state !

Mergon , yes, you would then be contaminating ground water, the frac'ing process is not anywhere near ground water. If there is methane in a water well, it was there long before any new gas or oil well was drilled.

Funny how there were so many reports, and only 4 were worthy of further investigation??? The other few hundred were obviously people crying "wolf" because they think someone did something that they think caused a problem, which did not actually exist. Obviously, they should take samples of everyone's water near any well, then take samples after, then we would have the proof required to shut down all the ignorant people that like to cry wolf. Frac'ing is not and has not caused ground water contamination, ever.

AP is to be commended for its effort to dig out the truth. It is puzzling how posters here completely ignore the facts --reported and confirmed incidents of complaints of contamination. It is also true that many would be complainers are silenced by gag clauses in settlement agreements with the frackers, or in the mineral right leases.

Only 4 states ? How money has the drilling companies paid local government ?

Pumping ACIDS INTO THE GROUND is an offence
The word ACID is not mentioned when news presenters talk abut this they are instructed to use the word CHEMICALS ,BY THEIR LEGAL TEAMS !

Conservative Caveman 08.01.2014 02:58

AP Report-"most complaints are still related to methane seeping into drinking water, not the chemicals used in drilling"
N aturally occurring methane in ground water.....
Googl e "Burning Springs"
Pe ople have been able to light water on fire for decades/centuries.
Fracturing has been going on since 1950
400,000 frack episodes

@Mark Causey, No that one must have taken everybody, even those involved in that "deadly business"! Of cause how should they guess that the chemicals where poisonous? FOR INSTANCE BY READING THE LABELS OF CONTENTS! Or someone educated person (in chemicals)
But a nice sarkasm! Mark C.!

suricaten 07.01.2014 17:36

@Austin Schuck, I totally agree with @Anthony B., in his conclusion about you! You can not really compare shale fracking, to drilling for water? Or do you use hundreds of metric tonnes with toxic and radioactive chemicals, to drill for water? Then it's no wonder that more and more people loose their grip of reallity over there! Either are you high on drugs or poisoned by ShaleFracking (or drilling for water,) You need to upgrade your info. About Fracking!

Mark Causey 07.01.2014 16:24

Wow, who would have thought that fracking would have contaminated the water?

Anthony B. 07.01.2014 13:20

Austin Schuck 07.01.2014 07:55

Fracking doesn't contaminate water, the govrnment contaminates water with flouride, ect. fracking does no more than drilling for water does

Eit her you are a troll, are working for the oil industry, or you are just plain stupid. Regardless, you really need to shut up.
