Google’s chief engineer: People will soon upload their entire brains to computers

20.06.2013 14:37

There are around 377 million results on Google.com for the query “Can I live forever?” Ask that question to company’s top engineer, though, and you’re likely to hear an answer that’s much more concise.

As said by commenters, I dont ever want to live in a world where you cant even kill yourself. Thats where its going. And also this virtual layer of reality will ultimately not be under individual control. All the NSA and meddling creepy psychotic corrupt US military stuff lately has destroyed any optimism I have about a singularity. I now dont trust it at all. It will be corrupted and the ruthless struggle of evolution will continue on.. but just in a new medium.

I wonder how you commit suicide if you upload your brain and then don't like it?

Kurzweil is 100% right. I hope he succeeds. If the blather here is any indication, it will mean baby-steps for all of his critics, until they stop worshipping death, totalitarian government, mindless conformity, and destruction.

Kurzweil is not definitely corrupted simply because Google has been corrupted by unconstitutional over-reaching government. Kurzweil is not Eric Schmidt, nor is he directly equal to google. I think, from reading his books and public statements that he is a very well-informed guy who is fully aware of the few legitimate criticisms of the NSA and google on this board.

Sort of like the Androids from Digital: A Love Story?

Will this amazing technology ever be available to regular schlubs like myself?

We are farther behind in longevity than Kurzweil is willing to admit. The more interesting stats are that if you were around during the 5th century but lived to age 21, you could then expect to live to age 64. The only reason people use "average life expectancy" was 30 at that time is due to using the unbelievabley high number who died before age 21. Thus mankind has made very few strides in extending our lifespan, but great strides in childbirth complications, disease, and viral vaccinations.

Did Mr. Kurzweil make a call to RT advising to delete one of my previous comments?

Could it be that Mr. K. is worried that nobody will show up to become "immortal" when they will finally reveal the hardware/software immortality contraption?

Kurzweil's "immortality&qu ot; has BIG problems: among others, it does not (because it cannot) present any guarantees which validate said "immortality&qu ot; as eternal.

An d: how idiotic can one be considered, if he/she plays with death itself?

How long can you live? The Bible’s answer is clear: Humans can have the hope of living forever—a hope that will be fulfilled after God cleanses the earth of all badness. (Psalm 37:28, 29)

Why we die...

The first man and woman had perfect bodies along with free will. (Genesis 2:16, 17; 3:6-11) Their disobedience, or sin, gave them guilt and shame. It also resulted in damage to their bodies, triggering a slow, inexorable descent toward death. 1 Corinthians 15:56; Romans 5:12

Conclu sion: The secret to endless life will never be found in a laboratory. Only God can undo the damage caused by sin. But will he? Yes!

What's scary is once your brained is hooked in it could be fooled into thinking it's not. Matrix :(

Mind Wisdom 25.06.2013 06:12

From sources other than Kurzweil’s, we have been aware that people will achieve “immortality”:

“During those days people will seek DEATH but will not find it;
they will long to DIE, but DEATH will elude them.” Revelation 9:6
