"The biggest challenge thus far has been removing highly radioactive waste from the 177 aging underground tanks and constructing a plant to treat that waste, which will be encased in glasslike logs for permanent disposal."
Where do they dispose of or dump it - In the sea??? Just as a matter of interest - Obama is so busy making war overseas & supporting his Al Nusra terrorists in Syria, he has no time to take care of the People in his own backyard!

Just starting up Obama's getaway saucer! another one gonna fly over the cuckoo's nest?

If a Fissure in the rock opens this contamination can go anywhere; Western prevailing Winds-Chicago?

Anonymous user 25.06.2013 20:34

If there are catalyst in the soil, things could happen quickly - might be a real bad day!

Nope, we're not quite dead yet...we still have a few thousand more leaks and lives to take....

Hanford is Hades On Earth just waiting to happen. An earthquake or tornado there will open up a Pandora's Box of the most radioactive material on earth guaranteed to contaminate the Columbia River and everything downstream all the way to the Pacific Ocean. All the inherent dangers associated with Hanford are mostly being ignored by state and federal officials with the philosophy "It will soon be someone else's problem".

Nuclear plants are a waste of money and environment. I hate them and wish to close this one!

Anonymous user 24.06.2013 16:15

Irony: The US is contaminating itself with Nuclear Waste created by them, to murder others

Anonymous user 24.06.2013 07:51

I think storing nuclear waste along he Ring of Fire is a Really smart idea!!

Anonymous user 24.06.2013 07:47

True fact that Hanford has produced more energy from the solar onsite than the nuclear! Nuclear yum!

It's Hanford site, not "state" as indicated in the title and elsewhere.
