The headline to this article is misleading....

Ag ree, it only mentions:
'The Justice Department is seeking to acquire government oversight of Apple’s iTunes and App Store – a move that would give feds control over content ranging from books to music to television shows and movies.'
It doesn't describe what kind of control. If they are just asking for a report to investigate this price fixing then that is a fair request. The use of the world 'control' implies the feds can control the price, i think that's not the case.

It seems the Justice Department has fallen into the crowd of folks who refuse to acknowledge the reality that Apple is not the only company providing the services it does. So here goes the Government taking a big step to abolish the free market while telling everybody it's for the exact opposite reason. What's new?

That's what apple gets for sleeping with the devil!

Amazon supports the administration. Apple is Amazon's competition. Thus, the DOJ attacks Apple. Thats how America works.

William Pollock 06.08.2013 11:34

I have to assume that the USDOJ has completed all its other investigations if they now have time to regulate iTunes and ebooks. I anxiously await their completed reports about the thorough investigations they conducted on the IRS, Libya, Zimmerman, spying on reporters, Texas voting laws, etc, etc, etc. I hope to see these completed investigative reports tomorrow.

The headline to this article is misleading. The Justice Department isn't seeking to "control" iTunes. It's seeking to enforce antitrust law to prevent price-fixing by greedy capitalists.

You cant beat the sound of nature.
Pull out the plug.
Now let's see who controls that.

Learn an instrument and listen to yourself instead of gadribbling uneducated rubbish on so called mainstream.

As for the so called justice department; it;s obviously rearing it's ugly head.

Btw, whats the big interest in the music department?

Oh thats right,
I forgot....!

funny how when the government proposes something it's "abuse of power" but when apple does something illegal it's "just good business"

james grant 06.08.2013 07:56

Wouldn't it be nice if some of those sweeping punishments included some prison time for Apple Execs. Stir up the vipers' nest a little and see what pops out..

Ian Terry Selby 06.08.2013 06:23

this is waaaay too funny. but you know truth is stranger than fiction.

Robert Olson 06.08.2013 00:40

Well lawyers do like there E-books. Lol. Apple doomed them selves..

Craig Kielhofer 05.08.2013 23:36

Granted I'm not a fan of Apple and their products, be BHO should learn to keep his nose out of other people's business. If Apple wants to fleece their customers fine. Count their customers, fleece them and see if they have any left to count afterwards. Isn't that how free enterprise is supposed to work?

oh WOW! a government ruling which actually benefits the people!? oh the world's gone mad...

This is a very 'Communist Party of China' idea.
