It all started on October 26, 2001, the day "W" signed Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001.
The Patriot Act
Our Congress, in a knee-jerk reaction, virtually unanimously gave away our freedom. The terrorism perpetrated upon us by our gov't has only metastasized as a cancer from that date.

And to think we used to call ourselves "the land of the free." Our government, established as and once a republic, has failed and gone rogue. Can a system so broken be repaired, when it is designed in such a way as only to be correctable by the same people who wish it broken in the first place?

Be n Franklin said we have a Republic for as long as we can keep it. Well he was spot on. It's gone. Too much damage has been done (imo) to repair it. Too much bad blood, distrust, fear and anger.

Diss olve the fed and all states should secede from the union.

Years ago developed an email server with unbreakable encryption. Yeah, some of you techies will soil in your pants screaming that is not possible, but it is, and can be done quite easily. Anyway, MIBs (yeah really) showed up and told us we cannot do this. So we didn't.

To think you guys think it has ever been diffrent.
Only thing that has changed is the tools.
American spooks have and always will do this.

Have no loyalty to your country you get what you get.

USA - UNITED STATES OF AMERICA The "B E A S T" (?) from Revelation (Chap 13) of the Bible, that "Makes all... ...he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, ... " "The Monster is revealing himself...".

Mr Snowden, come to Irkutsk, please

Shaun 09.08.2013 09:09

With his knowledge he was actually using a third-party email encryption service.... really.
The only secure email encryption is the one that you can run from your own system... email to third party servers can be intercepted, sniffed while in transit to the server. You got to get it to the server before encryption....

It's evident that any service like lavabit needs to be run outside of the US. I'm sure Edward Snowden has a space on his sofa for you Mr Levison.

This is meaningless. The NSA can wirelessly access any computer or server and read the data therein

That is not true.
The NSA can only access those systems they are granted access to and those they manage to hack through flaws or backdoors.
A security-literate system administrator can keep the suckers out if he really wants to.

Murray 09.08.2013 06:17

This is meaningless. The NSA can wirelessly access any computer or server and read the data therein, so what good will a "highly encrypted email service" do? NO good at all.
