This is a shoddy piece of half-baked journalism. The opening statement from the prosecution was that Dr Aafia Siddiqui was NOT al Qaida, nor did she have any links or connections with any terrorist organisation, the Taliban or any other banned groups. Had she been involved in any sort of illegal activities it is quite obvious the FBI would have had her charged as such. Furthermore, she was kidnapped and renditioned to America without any formal extradition request, thereby making the trial illegal. Throughout the trial she attempted to sack her legal team because they were not representing her interests but the judge Richard Berman said she was not mentally fit to make such a decvision. Yet at the same time the judge declared she was mentally fit to stand trial despite prison psychiatrists arguing to the contrary. This story should be about the injustice thrown at this brilliant neuro-scientists who was swept up and kidnapped, brutalised and tortured in the now-discredited War on Terror.
