It is going to be cold in Afghanistan pretty soon and the fighting will die down, so there won’t be a significant surge of troops before the spring offensive, argues Lawrence Korb from the Center for American Progress.
The approval ratings for the Afghan war in the U.S. are at an all-time low and the death toll of American soldiers is at an all-time high, but despite this President Barack Obama’s top military advisor has called for a troop surge in Afghanistan.
On Tuesday, General Mike Mullen recommended increasing U.S. troop numbers in Afghanistan.
That means that President Obama will have to explain why this war is a necessity to the American people, layout what the objectives are, and give a reasonable estimation of how long it will take, says Korb.
Since taking office, Obama has already nearly doubled the size of the military force in the country.

“Road police blood tests are an act of rape”The pilot program that is happening in Idaho and Texas to take blood forcibly from individuals unwilling to blow a breathalyzer is aimed at prosecuting more people, says Georgetown University professor Andrew Einhorn. |

Keep going send them in, more the better. With 19% supporting the puppet 'president' you really have brought western style 'democracy' there! Mission complete. The French would have been delighted to have had this level of support when they ruled Vietnam. Will of the people, 19% wow great work team USA, after 200 years, you may get to the 30 - 40% level of Europe, western 'democracy' will of the bankers, benefit seekers and civil servants. Its what its all about! Talk is cheap, about as cheap and valuable as a western vote!
