Apple Inc. has emerged as the victor in an International Trade Commission suit against smart phone makers HTC in which the iPhone manufacturers alleged that their competitors infringed on a handful of patents.

Ah, yes. Excellence through litigation. What better way to ensure the success of your product than to sue anyone who makes anything resembling yours.

The great Jobs made the same mistake twice! Once with the Mac and now again with the mobile market place. Didn't he and his buddies learn that keeping inevitable progress locked behind patent doors (iOS, chipsets, and all other proprietary devs), only gives you a quick profit and then it all comes spiraling down as the competition goes for another solution which then becomes mainstream (Android f.e. backed by the Big G!). In 1 year or so there is nothing iPhone compatible but there will be many that are Android compatible. The PC/MAC war all over again, and who won?
