Russia and the US have about 27,000 nuclear warheads – enough to destroy the planet several times over. Nuclear disarmament specialist Gareth Evans says reducing stockpiles should be the main priority of global powers.

Very nice interview. Beside there is no better psychological and global location for the side-view than Australia. In every respect the country is unique as the continent being never in full-size international war. Somehow Australia is the place of global envy and respectful moral corner. However, to get Australia more active in this mega-issue, it would be interesting to ask honorable FM. Evans the following: Does he perceive the nuke reality as a set of USA – Russia balanced responsibility supposed to shrink in and all others will follow? Or he allows that all others are formed around Israel’s pivotal involvement in the third set of global nuke subjects? Couldn’t it end that this third group overcomes the basic stability feasible by USA – Russia and they both exhaust themselves on account of others?
