President Obama has confirmed that the US intends to shelve its plans for a missile defense system in Europe. Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association, said this action comes “soon enough.”

That is true. Short and medium range. This is why ABM Treaty was scrapped. Russia is yet to see how it will affect its defensive posture. For now, good news. But it may end up being a shell-game. Any positioning of military assets, contrary to the deal with Gorbachev, will continue to be threat.
