Can the government be trusted in economic crisis?

With almost $US 800 billion to stimulate the economy, many wonder if the US government can be trusted to spend the money wisely.

The U.S. Democratic-controlled Senate has passed an economic recovery plan proposed by President Barack Obama. $US 838 billion have been earmarked to help America's ailing economy.
If the stimulus package fails it could hurt President Barack Obama's credibility, says Frank Michike from the New America Foundation, who also discusses the issue of health care for Americans.
The IMF forecasts the world's financial troubles will end in the second half of the year. Web journalist Lori “The Resident” Harfenist took to the streets of New York to find out if people share those high expectations.
