If the late leaders of Communist China were to witness an American President visit their country, not to lecture but to call it a peer, they would call it quite a sight, jokes author and journalist Pepe Escobar.

Barack Obama’s visit comes just 11 years after that of Bill Clinton’s, but the tone is completely different.

“Obama stops short of calling China a rival, and that’s exactly the thinking in Washington among Pentagon and CIA circles, but at least he acknowledged publicly that they are peers,” Escobar told RT.

The journalist believes that what we see in the future is a “G2”, an alliance between world’s two most powerful nations.
