Neither Estonia nor Latvia could detain Guantanamo suspects for an extended period without first putting them on trial and having them convicted of a crime warranting a custodial sentence. I don't know why the Americans think it would be any less illegal to detain someone without trial in the EU than it is in the USA.

Three cheers for Estonian refusal to be American lapdog. Americans have these prisoners and they should keep them, and not try to stuff them down the throats of other nations. Let Saakashvili take them - he is always looking for some ways to suck up to Obama. Puzzling why the Americans won't send these poor souls to their own prisons. Could it be that they are so dangerous that American can not take the risk of them radicalizing their own prison population? If that is the case, then why must other nations accept these terrorists just to please Obama. Anyway, three cheers for Estonia. Now, Estonia should tell the Americans that they will pull their troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq.

America imprisoned these people. America should either charge and convict them and continue to justly hold them in prison, or release them if no convictions can be made. In the event that it can or will do neither, then the logic of turning them over to other countries to mind is astonishing.

I am glad to see the article which (finally) pictures Estonina in a positive way. I think, it is enough to antogonize and provoke both Russians and Estonians by presenting one sided and politically charged views.

Bogdanov: "I am glad to see the article which (finally) pictures Estonina in a positive way." I have from good sources that the management and staff of RT are softening their criticism of Estonia because Marzipan6 has endeared himself to these good folks. Thank God for little favors from east of Peipsi järv.

Bogdanov-Marzipan6-Kihnu on the same page??? Not, bad, not bad at all. Now, if only the management and staff of RT also come on board this troika and make it a jetirka. I can assure Bogdanov, and the folks at RT, that the Estonians are not the evil ones as we are often portrayed on RT.

I agree with Marzipan6 on this. We in America have to clean up our own mess. No more "outsourcing" our embarrassment.
