I am not sure of this reporter is implying that this is "step backward" for this man but Islam is a religion of peace and many famous convicts have become Muslims inside prison and some of them have become great leaders. Malcolm X is good example. Also many American soldiers who were send to kill and maim Muslims actually converted to Islam after seeing the good nature and the hospitality of the people they were sent to kill and maim. My father served in afghanistan during the soviet invasion, during that time 20 000 soviets lost their lives for a futile effort to defeat the rebels... during that war americans were supplying rebels with weapons, now they are waging another war, those who they called freedom fighters are now terroists - ironic.
