I am not sure of this reporter is implying that this is "step backward" for this man but Islam is a religion of peace and many famous convicts have become Muslims inside prison and some of them have become great leaders. Malcolm X is good example. Also many American soldiers who were send to kill and maim Muslims actually converted to Islam after seeing the good nature and the hospitality of the people they were sent to kill and maim. I am not at all surprised that this man found Islam in Georgian prison. Islam has nothing to do with terrorism, Al Qaida and the Taliban.

Katrina, All Islamic terrorists who kill innocent children, or shoot down their fellow soldiers as that muslim Hasan did in Ft. Hood recently, holler "Allahu Akbar". Why do they scream praises to God before they commit their horrendous crimes? Islam may have been the "religion of peace" for those muslims who terrorized Chechnya for years, and continue to do so, or, blew up Moscow apartments buildings, but it certainly was not a "religion of peace" for those who were killed and horribly maimed by these muslim terrorists. I have yet to hear of an account where a Christian has hollered "God is Great" before he committed a crime.

Katrina im going to see some stats. I think you are making things up. Or is the western media trying to cover this up. (im talking about the soldiers converting to Islam.)

If Vladimir Arutyunian had converted to Islam, then most likely he not harm another human bring. Is George W. Bush a Muslim? How many millions of people-almost all of them who are Muslims were killed and maimed during his presidency? Is Mikhail Saakashvili a Muslim? How many thousands of women and children were killed by Georgian army in South Ossetia in August 2008? And just as it was in 2008, the United States and NATO are taking advantage during these Olympic games to kill thousands of people in Afghanistan-all of them Muslims. But alike South Ossetia, the Muslim people of Afghanistan do not have strong and powerful brother- like Russia, to defend them against U.S/NATO military aggression. Vladimir Arunty’s represent no harm to any body but I sense there is Islamophobic feeling among certain Pan-Slavic nationalist groups in Russia and other Slavic speaking countries. This is why this reports headline is has a double meaning: it says a leap forward to faith-when it seeks to register the opposite meaning.

If the so called uniformed soldiers like the NATO particularity the Americans kill innocent people is not called terrorism. What I mean is while the Americans or west or NATO was fighting against the communism, the west was along side with the Muslim countries to fight against the USSR red army in Afghanistan actively. When the USSR collapsed the Americans turned their all war machinery against Islam and call it Terrorist. If this is terrorism why they ware supporting the terrorism in the 80s in Afghanistan against the red army? If Islam that bad why the US and Europe citizens which considered well-educated who very well can differentiate bad and good convert to Islam. Islam has been, is and will for ever the "Religion of Peace". It's the western powerful media change black to white and vice-versa. You like or not, NATO in Afghanistan is known as "North Atlantic Terrorist Organization". That because to their evils act and behavior in that poor country. The US created Taliban in aim to use them for their own strategic interest and goals but the Taliban Movement changed their course by ignoring to follow and implement the US strategy - as a result the US call them Terrorists. Same, as the US created Osama to fight against the red army in Afghanistan. Who was behind the World Trade Center conspiracy is still a huge question-mark. World call Osama a terrorist but not George W. Hitler (Bush) who lied and orchestrated to attack Afghanistan and Iraq killed millions of innocent Muslims. What a great judgment of the world. The point is, before throwing the hand grenade he was not a Muslim!! he converted after what he was going.

Kihnu and Katrina. I have simpahy for muslims. My father served in afghanistan during the soviet invasion, during that time 20 000 soviets lost their lives for a futile effort to defeat the rebels... during that war americans were supplying rebels with weapons, now they are waging another war, those who they called freedom fighters are now terroists - ironic. The taliban warriors are from all over the muslim world, their religion is so powerful that they have declared jihad on heretic non-belivers, holy war. No one can match that morale not even the mighty americans. I hope they win this patriotic war against brutal invaders.
I have yet to hear of an account where a Christian has hollered "God is Great" before he committed a crime.
Some say Christians are like wolves, they kill silently but kill all the same. There is little difference between Christian and Muslim terrorists as a whole. Also the delivery method of aggression tends to be different. You can't hear what a B1-B Lancer pilot is saying as he drops 10 tons of bombs on a city filled with Muslim families, men women and children. I'm sure a lot of them get a rise out of it though.
