The healthcare reform debates in the US are heating up. President Obama's administration has signaled that its plans may be diluted. The overhaul was named a top priority when Obama entered the White House.
Obama pledged to extend healthcare insurance to the 46 million U.S. citizens who are currently without it. The bill he has proposed will allow people in the U.S. to either keep the health insurance they have now or to opt for a potentially more affordable government plan.
Critics of the government-run health care system say it would destroy the private health insurance system in the U.S. Many point to a recent government plan to help out the auto dealers in this country. The “Cash for Clunkers” program provided an incentive for people to trade in their older vehicles for newer and more fuel-sufficient cars. The program began last month and was supposed to continue until November. But in the first month, the $1 billion that was allocated for the plan ran out and $2 billion more was reinvested in the program.
The “Cash for Clunkers” program was designed to stimulate the economy and boost auto sales, but many car dealers say it actually put them into major debt because they weren’t receiving the government rebate.
Many now say this program is how the government-run healthcare plan will look like. Legal analyst Nicole Kardell says this is a fair comparison.
“Here I echo a lot of concerns of people who say that the government wasn’t able to handle a short-term, straight-forward program like “Cash for Clunkers,” said Kardell. “How can we trust them with healthcare reform that will be a major long-tem overhaul?”

The beauty of the internet, is that it is global. There are no physical boundaries. We can discuss globally ideas and thoughts around the world, with people from all over the world, and keep an open mind. Lori
Americas health care in US is deplorable. This month, our health insurance--Blue Cross Blue Sheild raised our monthly premium to $767 per month for a family of 3. It was $599.00 My family can not afford this!!! It is a 30% increase each month. I called Blue Cross many many times to find out "why" our familly plan went up 30%,. We are healthy. We have no claims. I wrote letters to the company. The only reason I was given for the outrageous increase was " escalating costs". My family is fighting this claim. But no one seems to listen. Americans continue to pay and pay and pay. We can't anymore. Europe has great health care plans that are NOT Socialized medicine. You can choose your doctor, you can choose your insurance company. You have many choices. "For-Profit" insurance MUST STOP!!!! It is making Americans broke. My message is to educate Americans and the world about what is going on in America. thank you

A market oriented healthcare tends to favour the richer part of the population. A more socialized approach tends to favour the poorer class of the society. Now the richer people are a lesser amount is every nation. This pyramid clearly shows that democracy does not work in USA. The fault lies in it's lobby system, wich favor the most rich and wealthy mega corporations. Part of the fault lies within the populace themselves also. They suffer from an extreme form of socialist fobia. Solidarity stems from a goodly heart, a desire to help your neighbour. Such people are ready to compromise and use a little of socialism for the sake of a good hearth. It has now been proved that corporate greed creates a hard heart. If the people are successful in removing the lobby, perhaps democracy could grow stronger in USA?
