A slight correction: John McEnroe is not British - he is an American who was successful in tennis championships in Britain and elsewhere. Maybe the press attention given to Obama's comment about Kanye West reflects the mindset of their viewers/readers: Many Americans are probably more interested in the MTV Music Awards than in US domestic or foreign policy
