Bloggers unite to crush SOPA

Supreme Court legalizes downloading music

The United States Supreme Court has refused an appeal that would have made downloading music an infringement of federal copyright law. Take that, Metallica!

Yes, the Supreme Court kept downloading music legal

Using "sources"(and I use that term loosely) such as 'The Daily Mail' cheapens and discredits your efforts of Journalism to give quote such trash as an "authority"(again used loosely) in an article.
That "newspaper"(again loosely, you get the point) has almost singlehandedly destroyed an entire generation of British people's perspective of truth and manipulated their ability to think for themselves.
Please don't do this again, you're better than that, and certainly more of an "authority" than 'The Dail Mail'!

I would hope that US congress persons serve adequate jail time (or punished accordingly) as treason for their commitment to the evil actions of the 'secret societies' which seek to rule them...

This was always the solution. The only difference will be is that you will have to use VPN tunnelling for each connection you make. Otherwise the FEDS will see your traffic and identify you as receiving or distributing material to your IP address then slam you.

Um, wasn't there a thing called Gnutella/Kazaa/insert other name here that did this exact same thing?

The Pirate bay has not gone offline. Why would someone even type that? Nore is it even close to being removed, just switching over to using magnet links instead of torrents and thats on the compleat oposite spectrum of going offline.

@Brian - There still is, all of those networks are still up and usable by other programs despite their origin programs being gone. The reason they are not in use as much anymore is because better things came along, not because the government succeeded in stopping them.
Will Tribler be the next 'better thing' to come along? Time will tell, but one thing is for certain. By the time they succeed in stopping it (IF they can), there will be something even better and it won't matter.

Long live pirates, long live our community worldwide, no matter your skin colour, your hobbies or how old you are! Long live free speech!

It's more of a censorship/free speech issue for me. Pirating is cool, but it's not that cool.

I've got no interest in the filesharing side of things, but nonetheless this sounds like a promising means of keeping channels of free and uncensored communication alive and outwith the control of governments, like they should be.

Correction is needed. The Pirate Bay is NOT going away. It stopped hosting torrents but that's because it moved completely to the magnets which it has been PLANNING to do so for years now.
Also, TPB has a cyberlocker site as well BayFiles which hosts 2gigs per file. Anonymous has one as well. Cyberlockers aren't going away and torrents trackers might but that is only because the way to get torrents are changing to where it is less likely to be disrupted.

Quit complaining about U.S., they are trying to do the same in Europe.. ACTA.

Sadly RT became a place for none intellectuals to display their biased one sided anti-American opinion.

I do wonder where are all of these people from who post such comments.

It's not... Why would even get the idea of it, it's featured on torrentfreak, rt, and it has tons of support from individuals... Also I've downloaded it myself.

Im not a 'Pirate'.  I reject that label.  It infers a myriad of negative implications.  We are a segment of the global population that have shown a willingness to share with each other.  Greedy corporations hate us because they can't control us nor profit from us. Truth.
