Leonard Peltier: Political prisoner or murderer?

He’s a sensitive topic for the FBI. The imprisonment of one Native American man has led a movement that transcends the US borders and illustrates a wound of injustice in America’s indigenous population.
Trust the word of the FBI? Not in my lifetime. The organization whose sniper shot Vicky Weaver in the head while holding a baby? You gonna' trust an organization that condones things like that?
What about the FBI hit team that used an axe to chop off the hands and feet of Gordon Kahl while he was still alive? (Google the name it's true.)










I don't understand the law very well, well let's put it this way: I am not an expert. I was under the impression that during the time of Mr. Peltier's trial and sentencing, his sentence would've been considered extreme and prejudicial. I hope there is an expert out there that would be willing to help me understand the severity of his sentence.
