It’s time to recognize the US-led NATO offensive against Serbia in 1999 as a historic mistake, Zivadin Jovanovic, former Foreign Affairs Minister of Yugoslavia told RT.

Quickly ending a war that had cost 5,000-9,000 lives in the favor of a de facto sovereign people at the cost about 500 lives certainly doesn't seem like a crime against peace to me. NATO would have killed even fewer people had the Serbs cared more about human lives than their own vain stubbornness. The Serbs were humiliated, and so they are prone to see things differently. Just like the Georgians are.

Thank you, RT, for remembering. Serbs are ready to forgive, but they are simply not given a chance. I believe it is simply because of the fear to face the truth that the West (meaning NATO members and other countries close to it) still insists on the media proscription, calling the Serbs "war criminals", "genocidal" and so on. Serbs have already gone trough it with the Austro-Hungarians and Bulgarians (WW I), Germans and their allies (WW I, WW II), but, this time, in 1999 and a few years earlier, they were alone. No one was there to present the evidence proving the accusations all wrong, although the evidence existed and still exist. 100 BILLIONS damage. I wonder who would survive that. Not to mention the damage which is not expressed in dollars. The world should have learned something by now, the "rich" world especially, about the reparation after the aggressor had caused the damage. The policy of attack (in media, the one mentioned above) is just a way of evading the responsibility for the consequences that NATO would, i.e. should, face if the truth was unveiled to the world. The victims are already well informed.

Thank you for publishing those words RT ! I wish that Serbia and Ukraine change their Western puppet leaders and come close to Russia. We Serbs are the same Slavic roots and same Orthodox religion like majority of Russians and our destinies should be also same.

NATO'S attack on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was indeed the ultimate crime against peace. NATO is an offensive alliance which has brought only catastrophies. Morover it is highly dangerous for the Russian Federation and it can only be defeated if the stregth of unity and vigillance are kept at all times.

The real crime against humanity is what the Serbs were doing to the Bosnians. The Serbs were embarrassed by our US led bombings. Next time they may think before more genocide.

The air campaign against the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was a clear violation of all signed treaties, it was the beginning of the renegade military Industrial Complexes that co controllers Europe today along with extreme bankers and Bilderberg members. The NATO aggression was initiated and controlled by ultra neo-con European Bilderberg affiliates. This is what will happen to all sovereign nations that does not kneel for the New World Order that is now in progress to become complete, there have been voices raised about this issue since at least a decade back in time both in the US and in Europe, these voices are not heard in normal media outlets, the war against the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was all about power change through bombs, and a complete destruction of a sovereign state. I do understand why Russia didn't act 10 years ago, they were simply not fit enough to take the struggle, the South Ossetian aggression by Georgia was a completely different story. This time the Russian Federation was ready to push back these special interest groups, that is indeed invading countries and governments left to right on the global geostrategic chessboard. What happened in former Yugoslavia will not be forgotten by those that knew the real backgrounds to the invasion. No statue of "liberators" will be given credit, the true story about tyrants will pass from parent to children and from those children to their children, this truth is something no statue will hide and I'm not even a Serb or Russian citizen thank you RT for this excellent broadcast, it is a truth Scandinavia really should hear more often.

“NATO’s attack on Serbia the ultimate crime against peace” Who said that? Ah, yes, the former Foreign Affairs Minister of Yugoslavia. The former foreign minister of Nazi Germany might have said the same about the Allies’ attack on the Third Reich. Terrible crime against peace, that.

Comment of William of Stanford is poor information I am not surprised there are lots of people like him. Just for his information - Serbs were fighting Al-Qaida ( Ben Laden who was in region at that time as an ally of Clinton administration). That region was very important strategical point for American Oil thirsty greed.

Thanks to RT for remembering, and calling spade a spade. Many honorable individuals around the world, statesmen, Nuremburg prosecutors, US Attorney General, writers, media, and numerous organizations --- all on record against this crime against peace. The puppet "mainstream" media made sure they were ignored and marginalized. How easy it is to make up stories. Remembering weapons of mass destruction? And all the underground nuclear facilities that Fox TV had shown in animated computer graphics before the war? All forgotten, but the occupation is permanent. Once, a prominent member of British Helsinki Group wrote before the bombing of Yugoslavia: "You could all write it ahead of time... there will be stories of mass graves, and mass camps and mass everything; same old stories, fabricated, copied for whatever occassion. From Bosnia on, it was only a xerox exercise..." Yet, many people still believe in such stories. They have no other information, it is as simple as that. When William Walker, the well known character in Central America's death squads showed up in Rachak, in a clear (and later proven) case of staging the civilian war dead, one Russian diplomat said: "The death star has become operational." So, it was. The violence against Serbia was necessary to create a suitable ending to the breakup of Yugoslavia. In this narrative, it was Serbs who were the agressors, and other were victims. The reallity is that the Serbs were the real, and intented victims. In a planned and cold blooded act of inhumanity, over 250,000 Serbs were driven from Croatia in August 1995. And by that time, Serbs have ceased to exist in half of Bosnia. Then, in 1999 following the entry of NATO forces under UN flag, the attrocities against Serbs continued. Another two hundred thousands were driven out from Kosovo, while the "humanitarians" watched. Serbia has the largest population of refugees in Europe today.

Let the whole world know, that one small heroic Nation, stood against whole NATO, fighting for existence for its people Nation and Freedom. Let everybody know that the last night of Bombardment 400 planes fly over Belgrade making the final act for taking Kosovo and Metohija out from Serbia. They have made Genocide against Serbia, taking Kosovo, before that Slavonia in Croatia, Bosnia, Macedonia from its mother Serbia...

The Yugoslav war was about the violent expansion of the NATO Pact which is why the treacherous Anglo-Americans supported WW2 Nazi Axis Croatia, WW2 Nazi Axis Slovenia, WW2 Nazi Axis Ottoman remnants Bosniaks/Albanians (who were also backed by Saudi Wahhabi fanatics with full US approval... that turned out well for them) against WW2 Ally Serbia. Marzipan6 comparison of Serbia to Nazi Germany is bizzare if not surprising given the state-controlled NATO Pact propaganda and indoctrinations of the 1990s. He sounds silly all the same.

William of Stamford..... your words show an ignorance of the events in the Yugoslavian civial war. Where do you you get your info?? The CIA or from the liar Bill Clinton??? T, your comments fail to mention that the so-called BOSNIANS actually started the civil war by BEING THE VERY FIRST to attack and murder UNARMED SERBIAN civilians in 1992. Of course they were armed and encouraged to do so by the Americans and the Iranians. Bin Laden was in Bosnia( even had a Bosnian passport) with his terrorists too. At least two of the 9/11 hijackers and the 9/11 mastermind leader were also fighting Serbs and killing Serbian civilians in Bosnia! Strange how the USA armed those terrorists back then in Bosnia and then got hit with the 9/11 attack. The WEST wanted Yugoslavia torn to shreds in order to remove it from competition with Germany and other struggling European economies and to annoy Russia. The WEST and had no interest whatsoever in how many and WHO died as a result of their intervention in the Balkans. They also CAUSED deaths and created incidents that caused MORE deaths of civilians.

I would say that it is hard to say this was the ultimate crime against peace. There is no doubt it was a callous calculated evil crime. But with so many other western US and Nato attrocities to choose from, I think it would be vying for pole position with some other top of the charts illegal invasions, torture and rapes commited by the US and Nato. So I think it is just more accurate to say that the US and NATO crimes continue unchecked and that previous crimes have not been brought to justice. This is the real ultimate crime against peace. It is the lack of the Serbians, Iraqis, Afghans, having the ability to force the US and Nato perpetraitors of war crimes to face justice. That is the ultimate crime against peace, because without these colonial expansionist powers facing justice, there will be no peace in the world. There will be no justice, just western hypocracy, served up with precision weaponry.

Dear William of Stamford, It is impossible to compare Serbian war in Kosovo with what happened in South Ossetia last year. Not the way you do it. Slobodan Milosevic has never bombed a single residential area with heavy artillery in Kosovo (like Saakashvili did). You may believe it or not, but the reason was that it would kill too many innocent people. Actually, Kosovan war had been a typical low-intensity firearm conflict before NATO stepped in. The mere numbers confirm this statement as it was about 10 victims per day on both sides. The conflict could easily be solved with peaceful means provided enough pressure on both sides during negotiations. However, it was USA / NATO that made the difference. The USA media campaign began with the alleged massacre in Racak. The leader of UN forensic team, Helena Ranta, wrote a whole book on how NATO ignored (and concealed) her findings in Racak only because they did not fit in. USA were looking for an excuse for intervention, and they were looking really hard. Having found little, they made the whole thing up. NATOs intervention in Kosovo was one of the biggest frauds in history, and the time will reveal this as the old generation of politicians step down. And one more thing: the biggest killer during the Kosovo war was no doubt NATO: over 60% of victims. How good is that? Saakashvili is another story. Actually, USAs dreamed of Milosevic pounding a sleeping city with heavy artillery in 1999. It alone would make a perfect excuse for military intervention, but it never happened. However, it did happen in Georgiabut this time Russia has no right to intervene according to USA. Double standards? The only diffierence is that Saakashvili was (and still is) an obedient servant willing to run long to serve American interests. Milosevic (and Serbs as whole) have never been that way. Here is the difference.

@Marzipan6 The Nazis were the ones supporting the Ustashi against the Serbs during WW2 and Germany backed Croatian Ustashi during the 90’s and the Bosnian SS and there 90’s Iranian/Bin Laden friendly regime during the 90’s. Marzipan just thinks its dandy that we supporting an Islamic terrorist mafia state in Kosovo whose network spans across Europe and the world who massacred, tortured and destroyed Christian non-Albanians with KLA death squad units and NATO bombs with 155+ Orthodox Churches destroyed by KLA gangs. The KLA we trained in Turkey and the US. “KLA members were ordered to go into the streets of neighboring towns and villages to kidnap and “arrest” the Serbs, to torture them and kill them and to dump dismembered bodies, packed in plastic bags and sacks, into the Livoč Lake and garbage containers. According to the eyewitnesses’ testimonies, the wretched Serbs who had a misfortune to be captured and subjected to the agonizing tortures at the hands of Albanian Gnjilane butchers were exposed to unthinkable suffering and mutilations, they had their fingers smashed with metal rods, their fingernails and teeth pulled out with wire-stripping pliers, they had their tongues slashed and cut off, their heads bashed in with metal bats, they were being strangled with plastic bags and wires, they had their genitals cut off and their throats slashed open with machetes…” Now we have a Clinton statue, Bush Avenue and the largest US military base in Europe. http://de-construct.net/e-zine/?p=6943
