Urta-Burlak gas field, Uzbekistan

A giant funnel is being built in the Gulf of Mexico to channel the oil spill from the seabed to surface. But since there is no guarantee it will work, Russian experts think Soviet history may offer a radical solution.

This oil spill in Golf if Mexico will become one of the biggest catastrofic - dissasters ever...The size of done damage is huge!I fill sorry for all those ordinary Americans affected by this.Flora and fauna will be also afected for 10 of years to come...What strike me is that bigg companies all over the world(most of them) do not care to much any wrong doing will afect lifes of future generations! Many act as French king- Luis (I think) 14 who said -After me everithing can be flooded! In this case everything what can stop this leak shall be done...Also Nature of today is not ours-rightfull owner are -the future generations! Experts shall sit and think to solve this leak and ofcource once and for all brings laws and tehnlologies to prevent anything like this happening in future and not only in this field....Thanke you.

Well, if they try the nuclear explosion, they should consider the possible outcome in which the whole ocean floor caves in allowing all the oil in that huge reservoir to pollute the whole ocean, all over the planet!!! Can they take that risk? I think they cannot and should not! I feel for all the ordinary american people, they have no fault of their own and yet, they would pay the highest price! Of course, there are solutions to replace the oil as a source of energy... take solar energy, the use of magnets, cold fusion or zero point enery, etc. Valid options have always been around but then the big bucks would circumvent the big people of the world and thus they would lose a lot of power over ordinary people. And this can't be allowed to happen! How unjustly this world is run!!! Sad my friend, very sad!

In a way I thank the above comments from people whom I'm guessing are not living in the USA. Because they both show some sympathy for the locals. But in the same sense I laugh. I've been in the military and now on my way to being a Hydrologist. In the service I seen how you can build an airstrip, to possibly aid in the deaths of millions if needed, on a chunk of coral (Diego Garcia). That you can increase an island 80 times it's original size to bury a monstrosity of death created because Russia was ahead of the game (pox) and we had our heads up our arse's (Johnston Atoll). But we cant plug a hole? We put enough pollutants in the Mississippi river and along our coast to already create a vast dead area where nothing can survive in the gulf. And we are now attempting to cap an oil guesser with dirty diapers and uncle Bob's used pick up tires. Come on..This is being done to simply get everyone pissed off about oil so we can put an even bigger push on clean energy and stick it to the middle east in the end. It's the same thing as our (AZ) immigration law. With all the blah blah crap being spurted out about it, we (USA) will undoubtedly be pushing a national or even global (for all you conspiracy freaks) I.D. card or chip so then it takes care of any racist mess. How else do you get the masses to follow? Again, come on... our polls and news broadcasts reflect a nation with a dwindling I.Q.

Please don't. We don't have the exact data of the geological situation in the Gulf. It looks that the geology is not very stable as oil and gas leaking permanently into environment and that without any human involvement. We are talking about a leak around 1500 meters underneath the sea.

I can't believe how incompetent British Petroleum really is ! Everytime a new strategy fails they "try" something different . Try ? They don't know how to stop this leak ' but if it runs out on its own they will claim success and say they fixed it ! This is their business and they should have perfected it years ago ! It is not just the oil I am worried about , but also the amount of natural gas that will deplete the ocean of oxygen !
