“Obama is unlikely to fulfill his promises”

President Barack Obama’s rhetoric is pretty good, but his economics are lousy, says Republican Congressman Ron Paul, who shared his views about Obama’s 100 days in office with RT.
“I think his rhetoric on foreign policy is helpful, but it remains to be seen, because he actually increased the Department of Defense budget by 9%. So he can’t be very sincere about really bringing our troops out. And with the violence escalating in Iraq he’s not going to fulfill his promises,” Ron Paul believes.

I'm not sure how one can actually determine whether a US president will fulfill his promises after only 100 days. How many of you actually know the origin of the "100 Days" benchmark that is such a fad? It was due to the fact that during extraordinarily bad economic times in the 1930s, Franklin Roosevelt was able to accomplish an unprecedented number of initiatives within his first 100 days. However, this was a historical outlier, and not a reflection of historical political norms in the US or many countries for that matter. Ron Paul means well, however, anyone with a truly rational sense will understand that going by a mere 100 days of a 1461 day presidential term is hardly indicative of the total efficacy of a presidency. Even an entire presidential term, it could be argued, cannot be accurately assessed as to its effectiveness until several years later.
