Is the US media leading America to (another) war?

In the past, war reporters bravely followed soldiers into the jaws of war. Today, it looks like the soldiers are embedded in the media instead, simply going along for the story.

Obama will fail in Afghanistan for the simple reason that, no matter or troop urge, the majority of the Afghans want to end to U.S occupation. Russia will come strong by this for whereas the U.S engineered the defeat of USSR in Afghanistan, there is no evidence that Russia supports those fighting the U.S. In fact, Russia is helping the U.S and NATO effort there. But because the U.S policy has primarily geopolitical objectives, the occupation force has failed to win over the Afghan people. Obama will also fail to curtail the independence of Latin America from U.S domination. One thing is certain, Obama is not the change he promised to the American and European left. But European and American left have no alternative agenda, so they will swallow Obama’s imperialistic interventions in Afghanistan, Latin America because he is not GWB! With Nobel Peace Prize to go with it, Obama can now work hard in his attempt to restore the U.S global dominance. Things will sort themselves out in the next two or three years, but I do not think that Obama will be reelected nor will he will succeed in Afghanistan.

I was watching the show this morning when I saw a woman on being interviewed by Bill Hemmer about the war in afghanistan. I was shocked and have been shocked in the past at the many people that do not support our troops. Our troops should be supported whole-heartedly. What they are doing is so important. They are helping keep our country free. We should honor them everyday. These people who say that we need to all hold hands and sing koombiya and sadly mistaken. I personally think that they need to either go to each of the families that lost a loved one on September 11th and tell them that what the talliban did was OK and that we need not stop them from doing more damage or for them to actually go and be with some of the troops over in afghanistan while they are fighting. I would also like to know what some of these people would say if maybe they lost a loved one to a terrorist attack, how would they feel then? I just hope that they can see that we owe so much to the military men and women. We should all thank God every minute of every day for the freedoms that we have.

Right from the beginning, I had the feeling that Mr Obama's election was a forgery. US citizen and practically all other humans have been fooled. Not, because the new president is a bad person but simply, in the actual context, a decent, sincere, honnest and competent man (or woman) cannot govern countries like the USA, France and many others. The US president should have been encouraged by the BRIC countries' leaders to fool those who had used him and tell frankly to the whole World in what shape was mankind's governance under the West's leadership. Unfortunatly, everybody had his own unavowable plan and nothing happened. It is also quiet possible that Mr Obama did not have neither the vision or the courage to do such a thing. It is not being anti-american, (as some have accused me to be) to make such a statement. Consequently, this president, under the supervision of the Military-Industrial-Complex, of Wall-Street, of the Mondialisation's masters and of the greedy worldwide oligarks will do exactly what his predecessors did: obey ! Sorry Future Generations ! on the mediocrity's war-trail...Nevertheless, Think Positive... Best Regards...Jean-Claude Meslin

We would not tolerate a dictator. So, the political hierarchy that is presented for public consumption is a ruse, a hoax, the grandest stage show in human history. The "right/left" dichotomy is the central pillar in this puppet show. The genuine levers of power are wielded by self-appointed puppetmasters that hide behind the curtain. Your reality is a carefully maintained illusion - and there are no higher stakes on the planet

The American men and women who are risking their lives every day are just as brave and just as honorable as any U. S. Military that have ever served. Don't confuse honorable service with political decisions that you don't like. These young military people don't get to pick and choose which orders they will follow. They follow all lawful orders of all those appointed over them. This is not an option as in civilian life. They cannot quit their job when the gioing gets tough or when they disagree with policy. Congress, and congress alone, can constitutionally declare war. Since the American congress has chosen not to declare war, they are taking the politically correct way out and just letting it happen without a formal declaration. If the American congress would take a stand and either declare war, or declare peace, it would give the moral backing of elected office holders to the fighting men. Brave congressmen could even serve in the Army in combat beside the MEN.

I am a twice wounded combat veteran of Vietnam. I feel the troop surge the president is proposing is just about the stupidest move he could possibly make. We could be there 100 years, and when we leave, the country will revert right back to their old ways; of that I can guarantee you, just look at the debacle of Vietnam.

Katherine and Echo, Despite the fact you both must know that American soldiers fighting wars of imperialism in Afghanistan, you want to reduce the argument a simple case of ‘supporting the troops’! This is not different from how German population convinced itself Wehrmarcht troops were keeping Germany at the Volga [see battle for Stalingrad) in WWII. It seems that Katherine is convinced that the best way to keep America save is an open ended military offensive. Do you think that this will not increase the likelihood of blow back from those whose loved ones are bombed, killed and occupied by the United States? Why not ask American soldiers whether they wish to continue fighting these wars of empire building? Literature suggests that American soldiers do not wish to continuing fighting endless wars of occupation. If you truly support the American troops then ask elected officials to bring them home to their families.

Nobel Peace Prize for Obama I sent the flwg email to the Nobel Prize peace comittee: Alfred Nobel must be turning himself in his grave after the peace prize was awarded to a war monger Obama, who just upped the troops in ‘his’ war by 30’000 men, representing a nation that has killed hundreds of thousands of civilians and which started every major war after WWII. Further, this guy has done nothing in the Middle East to promote peace, nor has he learned a lesson from his predecessor to stop invading foreign sovereign nations by slaughtering its citizens. What kind of democracy and human right record is this? So far this guy has only proven himself being a smooth talker. Where are his actions? Oh, yes there are, send more troops to kill more civilians preferably with the latest threat to any nation, by drones, from behind a desk somewhere in Denver some 10’000 miles away… What a pitty! Your committee did Mr. Nobel and his cause a disservice with this. I turned off the TV set in disgust when I learned about it. If there is nobody who disserves Mr. Nobel’s prize for promoting peace in the world, for heaven’s sake, then don’t offer it. There is nothing wrong by skipping a year or two until a person comes along who really made a worthwhile and lasting contribution for peace. This just a thought.
