There is not much of a rift between old school and newbies in the White House, but President Obama takes shady decisions, says US radio host Thom Hartmann.
I am not sure the headline is fair given the context of the statement, but since presumably anyone salivating over it would deign to listen to the interview, I don't see that as particularly bothersome. Russia, if I understand things correctly, has largely removed private money from politics. Unfortunately, the US still has a long way to go on that front. In regards to who Hillary was referencing in the US, it would presumably be the people who view the Russia as being undemocratic and as having aspirations to reconstitute the Warsaw Pact. John McCain seems to be one of those who suspects such. They are predominately conservatives, but not all conservatives are of this point of view. The liberals on the other hand, particularly after Medvedev's article, have a fairly optimistic view of Russia. Hopefully, by the time the conservatives get back into power in the US, and I doubt they'll retake the presidency before Obama has served 2 terms, they will share in the optimism as a result of cooperation bearing fruit and less things happening that make Russia look suspicious. Both the US and Russia frequently took heavy PR hits during the Bush and Putin years.
The conservative republicans and their ilk are out of control in this country. All they do is bash, bash, bash. Fortunately, Obama is not fazed by this and desires realistic and positive relations with Russia. Thank Goodness he is president and not one of those delusional and crazy right wingers.
Russia just needs keep talking to the US, the Obama admistration needs to be kept fed to keep them in office for two terms. In the meantime the pole with China and India can be developed fully to a strong conclusion. Then the US will have a chance to be persuaded into long term change for everyones benefit. Russia, China and India need to do the creation independently of the US, but with an eye for them to be part of something equitable, if they can change their colonial ways. This gives a future for everyone and some leverage for Obama who is struggling to reign in the right wing exploiters of the world and the American people. Is he genuine who knows, so we keep him in quarantine until we know for sure.
Most of the "crazy" right-wingers Linda speaks about voted for Barack Obama. I voted for Obama but now that he is our president, I do not see any change I can believe in. In fact, I am more scared and worried about America and our freedom than ever before in my life. I read Russia News to see what is really happening in the World. If a white skinned person in America disagrees with Obama, we get called a crazy right wing racist. I am a white democrat with a mixed race grandchild and I am not happy with Obama so far. My granddaughter is half black and I worry about her innocent future and the promise of our Free Country and the US Constitution. Linda, please remember, more than one half of Americans voted for him and now we feel tricked. We need honesty and fairness in our World or we will end up blowing eachother up and destroying the Earth.

Mr. Hartman, a progressive radio host, one of a few, is 100% correct. The US media and the politicians are controlled by Wall Street and the AIPAC, Obama is no exception. There is a theory, since the US lost much of it's image during the Bush years , the elite primed Obama for the presidency, with a desperate nation seeking change...perfect timing .... now .unfortunately it's business as usual. Hail US democracy!!! fred Oregon, USA
