The only people Obama may be disapointing is the Czech and Polish polititions that agreed to these missile defense stations installed in their countries for millions of dollars of rent . These countries rejected Bushes offers over and over untill finally Bush agreed to pay so much they agreed . The people in these countries did not want to build first strike targets in their countries . If my memory is correct the people were against these missile bases only the eastern european politicians wanted them . Another cheap victory for Obama and the people . A smart man we have here .

I agree with Eric. Furthermore, those Polish and Czech politicians saying they have been left undefended by America are missing the point: The missile defence was supposed to protect the USA (and maybe bits of Western Europe) against missile attack from Iran. It would not defened Eastern European countries from anything or anyone. The defence of Poland, Czech Republic and the rest is handled by article 5 of the NATO Treaty and has nothing to do with missile defence. That some Republicans are saying Obama has "given in to Moscow without getting anything in return" seems to imply that they were lying when they said it was only for defence against Iran and nothing to do with Russia i.e. Putin was right all along. Anyway, there will be something in return: arms reduction talks.
