Barack Obama, who is more sympathetic to Native Americans than his predecessors, can deal with the tribal sovereignty issue and end the infamous Leonard Peltier case, investigative journalist Wayne Madsen told RT.
The US president is hosting what is billed as the largest gathering of Native American tribes in US history. Obama promised a yearly summit to discuss the problems they face.
It’s expected that the infamous case of Leonard Peltier will come up. The rights campaigner was jailed for life in 1977 for shooting two FBI agents.

Poland wants more American troops on its soilThe Polish Foreign Minister has voiced a desire to station US troops in the country. They are meant to protect Poles from an attack by Russia, he said. Moscow called the statement “absolutely unacceptable”. |

Thank you for doing a story about Leonard. It is OUTRAGEOUS that he is still imprisoned when even the accusers admit they don't have proof, and another individual has admitted to killing the FBI agents (see Peter Matthiesen's numerous writings on this case). Pardoning him would be the most significant act Obama could take to prove he is worthy of being a Nobel Peace Laureate.
