I have nothing against the people of Poland therefore I do not care for increasing rhetoric over this mess. However, the United States expansionist policies and involvement in every sphere of the world is troubling. To think they aren't using Poland to get closer to Russia would be an over sight. I think that the reason why Poland wants US missiles and bases on its territory in order to increase the likelihood of US assistance in case of war, because the US is too far away and NATO, regardless of its rhetoric, is not a guarantee of defense. Poland knows this and is scared that it will be left for dead (and it will be for sure), should anything happen. By having as many US assets as possible on its territory, the US will be obligated to defend its interests, whether it wants to or not. This all goes to show how weak the Polish position is.
