It’s no use fighting the cultivation of poppies in Afghanistan and it’s better for the US to turn it to its own advantage, says Tony Blankley from the Washington Times.
“The poppy revenues are at the heart of the structure of the tribal culture. Since we have to rely on this tribal culture, I think we cannot obliterate the poppy fields,” Blankley told RT.
“I think it’s cheaper for us to buy it [the poppies], keep the tribal culture functioning, and let them keep the money which they desperately need – it’s a very poor country. And then we can either dispose of it or move it into the legitimate process.”
“Taliban doesn’t control field commanders”The Taliban is trying to avoid civilian casualties but recent attacks in Afghanistan show that it doesn’t have full control over its field commanders, says Jeff Dressler of the Institute for the Study of War. |

Dick Cheney to reveal White House dramaFormer U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney will publish a tell-all book about his time in office that many expect to be highly controversial. The goal is to save his reputation, suggests author and analyst James Joyner. |
I do not know what is "legitimate' in this issue. CIA -- both on duty and through 3rd party intermedediates have been selling opium from Afghanistan since 1950's. CIA had number 1 tranfer point through the psycopathic Iraniam false leader -- Slavack of Iran. Ex-Slavack as the most in-huamn killers were even arrested in Beverly Hills California USA for herion dealing by US DEA in 1990's. What is legitimate now? Maybe US DEA has undercover houses in wealthy Beverly Hills California USA district -- in order to track ex-patriot Iranians, bared from re-entry to Iran and their so called "legitimate" opium sales US DEA routinely overlooks any CIA attempt to save up covert $ to overthrow Iran -- even when the dope deal is in broad daylight and felony against American laws. Peace.

Uh, poppies are used to make legal, legitimate pain relievers used daily; morphine and codeine. Plus, poppy seeds are really good and crunchy on breads and muffins. MMM
