Despite the US and Russia having a long history of discord, the progress in the countries’ relations will continue, Henry Kissinger, US Secretary of State 1973-1977, told RT.

“There is a long legacy of the various disagreements that ever occurred with Russia over a sixty year period,” Kissinger said. “I also believe we have to be careful, but we have to understand that the world is different now. Russia is no longer an ideological adversary of the United States and there are much fewer conflicting national interests and many common interests.”
