Following fresh speculation that the CIA is still running secret prisons, author and journalist Webster Tarpley shares some details on “rendition” activity in Ireland, Romania, Germany, Egypt and now the UK.

A US jet, thought to be involved in previous rendition flights, was spotted touching down in Birmingham. It was allegedly met by two British Special Forces helicopters.

The incident was reported by the Guardian newspaper.

Tarpley says he wasn’t surprised by the news, having drawn his conclusions from US President Barack Obama’s promises.

The chain of command always leads to the top for authority. It must also lead to the top for responsibility and accountability. Real leaders accept responsibility and hold themselves accountable for things that happen on their watch. A good leader never tries to weasel out and let the front line people take all the heat. We are still looking for a few good men-AT THE TOP.

Now several CIA agents are being sued in Milan for torturing prisoners in those secret prisons. It is not exactly the show trials I had expected, but it is a start. It does seem that the CIA finds it hard to learn - every time they get sloppy and think they have a "carte blanche" to do anything, the administration changes and they suddenly are in trouble with the next leadership for not following the laws. The winds have shifted a couple of times just in the few decades that I have been watching. No sympathy. Go get them, Milan. More power to you.
