President Dmitry Medvedev did an excellent interview. It was blunt and honest, what you see is what you get. I have respect for the Russian culture they need to work with honest politicians in other countries. I like seeing China and Russia working together on the international stage, I do believe Mr Medvedev is good for Russia. I watch RT, you have some good debates, it's refreshing, i'd just like to add about Saakashvili and Georgia conflict - Russia was 100% correct to stop the idiot. I think China and Russia should be the main source of security in that area, they could be a good peace keeping force.

Yes, this is the correct approach, Russia has realised for quite some time, that behaving internationally, as a strong equal partner is the right way to build a new world order. It has realised that true friendship and national joint interests are the way to move things forward internationally. Russia has ushered in the new multi-polar world, based on sound economic and military bilateral realtions. Russia is well advanced and is growing more and more along this theme, to cover more of the world in terms of partneship and common interest. LATAM and Africa now are under the spotlight, whilst earlier the SCO had been the main focus to shore up ties nearer to home. What Russia has brought back to the world is the notion of individual sovereignty, the notion of deals between states, rather than blocks. Russia has sought to establish alliances which rather than have a personality of their own, just seek to be an enabler for bilateral realtions and serving the interests of common good between nations. This is a more open and robust architecture than blocks like the EU and NATO which take on a 'hydra'-like identity and singular body. Russia is creating the environment of legitimate equal national interest. It is going about it in a calm, pragmatic fashion, it is the Russian way, not Hollywood way. Russia seeks true partnership, not one night stands, it is strong enough to resist the man in the middles games of its neighbours, which it knows are counterproductive in the long run. Putin put Russia on a comfortable strong footing, Medvedev now can develop on this. The Reset came form Putin's work, which was really just a bilateral strategic reset, beneficial to Russia and the US and following Russia's direction of bilateral relationship development. Hopefully further international and national development can come from Medvedev's work. Medvedev is right, we need to build at home, we need to improve our civic life, we need to improve our economy, these are also essential steps.

Well, I think that change to the health system in the US is very important. Once that happens, and it is common sense and non capitalist to implement it, it will radically change the shape of international politics. It will change the biggest economy into a fairer and more just one. This will have serious knock on effects to other governments. We will one day be able to put to the past the greed and selfishness that underpins materialism and capitalism. A change to the US health system is one giant step for mankind to move towards an equal and united planetry society, based not on capital earned but by how loving and peaceful a person is. This will also boost US relations with Islamic extremists fighting Jihad. Peace will be employed! Regards Anton H

The most important thing for Russia is trade. When have you ever heard Russia condem any slaughter or human rights abuses? You dont and thats because they are more concerned with trade and money than lives. This is a habit going back long before the soviet times. The only thing Russia seems to condem is the USA by using far out conspiracy theories that seem to be making the population worry about "external threats" then any real concern for human rights. The world over has seen the many tapes of horrid abuse of Chechens at the hands of the red army. Far worse then anything the USA did in Iraq. The reason Georgia and Ukraine and other "Soviet Block" countries fear Russia is because they have never been a peace keeping force, but a brutal occuping force which, once they come in, tend to stay for 60 years. Everyone knows who the East German Stasi answered to. Is Russia the soviet system that Berea loved so much? No, but when you hear Russians yern for the "glory days" of soviet power, it makes people nervous. This is a point Russians dont seem to want to accept and instead fall for the same old stories about everyone wanting to take them over and you only need to run to the warm breast of Moscow to be safe. Obama has stated he didnt support the missile shield aimed at North Korea, sent over teams of people to talk, did a stupid reset button, said we need a strong Russia and has went far beyond any US President in reaching out, yet still Russia slanders the US and cooks up strange conspiracy theories about how he want to destroy you. After reading this site and reading the responses from the public, I say why bother. Instead of slashing our CIA and military budget like Obama is doing, maybe we should go back to a cold war strategy and give your politicians what they want. You are right about Biden, he is an****.

Russia is building relationships, based on respect for other nations. Russia takes the view that other nations are in control of their own destiny, with a sole responsibility to answer legally to the UN. Russia follows international law, hence its success in bulding bilateral world relationships. Russia only does pragmatic deals, it doesn't get intimidated or act out bizzare plans for world dominance. The US in contrast acts illegally on a continual basis, it illegally invades countries, bombs others, massacres, tortures and rapes civilains. It is nothing more than a world thug and terrorist. Russia is on a trajectory of growing mutually beneficial bilateral ties. US is on a trajectory of declining global capital control. Russia and the US came to a cross roads where there was a chance for a new begining. The US scoffed at the deal. They wanted the deal anway, as long as it was their way. So Ok the window passes, and Russia continues its work in BRIC, SCO, CSTO, the rest of LATAM and Africa. The strategic agreements are being set between the US and Russia, any more was a bonus, Russia doesn't need a close US, it has the rest of the world, a much bigger place to do a growing trade and relationship with. The US has found that its world oppression is counting little, when it doesn't have the readies to pay the bribes. For years it has treated the world like a brothel, only to find, when it doesn't have the cash, it is so ugly, it can't get any girl in town.

I was really pleasantly surprised by the interview. I have to admit, my instincts are to avoid interviews with politicians, as most of the conversation tends to be scripted. However, this was an excellent interview. The Russian culture is here on display--- honest, blunt and with a sense of humor. I do often wonder about the twin problems that Russia is confronting in turbo-charging its internal development. And President Medvedev is on target by noting that the internal prosperity and economic strength are the currency of international respect. But to charge forward in both economic and social development, Russia needs a very different type of innovation. And that is an innovation in urban planning. Without moving people to where the economic development is --- East ---, Russia can hardly open up the frontier to the young, mobile and energetic new generations. Russia's geography, size, climate and environmental concerns dictate a new, decidedly non-European urban design. An entirely new structural, infrastructure and transportation complex is the future in Russia's vast spaces. Such new approach would be cost-effective, environmentally responsible and socially attractive to young and old alike. For to develop new economic centers, Russia needs to think in an integrated manner, and apply innovation to climate-controlled, interlinked architecture that is modern and efficient, but provides for social setting that builds on teamwork, and collaboration. The innovation Russia needs is not necessarily scientific, but is based on the integration and utilization of already well understood technologies. Also, the fight against corruption is not only legal. Instilling the pride in civil service is the way to go. People work for more then money. Education will also play a key role. Training in customer service on all levels will greatly improve the quality of experience, as well as the quality of all Russia has to offer!
