The U.S. maker of a genetic testing kit has announced this week that it would be sold in drugstores for the first time.
However, the Walgreens drugstore chain has backed off the plan after U.S. officials said the kit needs to be tested first.
Lori Harfenist has been finding out if people in New York think consumers are ready for this new step forward in the age of “personalized medicine.”

What the hell is "unethical" about a medical test? [Unless it is unreliable] The alternative would be living in ignorance, knowing I would have cancer in 10 years would help me plan ahead and even get treatment that would have otherwise been too late. Of course, people will need to be reminded that they should consult a doctor before acting upon such a test, but otherwise I do not see the problem, it seems to me that not taking the test would be living in denial!
