Only now is the American government beginning to recognize global warming as a problem that needs addressing.

For almost a decade, the Bush administration procrastinated on doing something about it. But the credit crunch has woken up America to the cost of not becoming more fuel efficient.

RT’s Resident in NYC Lori Harfenist asks people on the streets if climate change is just a new American trend – or a real threat.

The majority of the questioned New York residents concur that climate change is absolutely real. But concerning questions of what exactly is changing and why, here the opinions differ quite a lot.
