Maher Arar in Canada was abducted by American authorities and then sent to Syria to be tortured. He was then released after a year. Maher Arar is one well-known case, but there are many more. From the evidence or lack of it I've seen, Viktor Bout is in a similar or worse situation than Maher Arar. Richard Chichakli is also a target of the American government as seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h__XD9XBVdc Moreover, the weapons expert, Johan Peleman, doesn't even know a Kalashnikov between an AK-47 speaks loudly to Johan Peleman's dubious credibility. I wish Viktor Bout and his family well, and hopefully his torture ends soon.

I want to thank RT for posting these most interesting docs on the case of Viktor Bout V the United States. I have no way of knowing whether Viktor Bout is guilt of innocent but if the points stated in these four dossiers are correct, then, it is the duty of Russia, Russian media included, to defend the rights of Viktor Bout. One thing I am convinced is that I do not trust the U.S legal system. That does not mean I do trust the Russian justice system either. But in this case, Viktor Bout is facing the power of the American empire and it is pertinent that he receive total support from the Russian government, people and the media.
