The US's main diplomatic approach has so far been bombing all around. Serbia, Iraq, Afghanistan, ... there is a long list of "US diplomacy efforts". Bringing down US to the negotiating table would be an astonishing achievement and Russia, France, and other civilized nations are in all likelihood all too well aware how touchy such an action might be.
