Russia dragged into US media wars over Iran

Once upon a time, intrepid reporters followed armies into the heat of battle; today, judging by the hysterical news stories coming out of the West, it will be armies that are imbedded in the media.
What a strange logic, JT? Iran was using an old site, very well known to IAEA inspectors. In fact, most people do not even remember, Iran signed an additional protocol, a very intrusive form of inspections in order to ease the concerns. And inspectors had access to everything based on this, totally voluntary Iranian agreement with IAEA. What did they get from it? More hostile trashing from the West. In the meantime, West does not bother with the Middle Eastern Country that already has nuclear weapons, and that kept on threatening Iran with air strikes, unless Iran stops enrichment process. Rich, isn't it? More and more fake "evidence" was tossed over the fence to IAEA, just to keep them busy. Additonal "sanctions" were piled up by US --- a misnomer, since "sanctions" should be used only in the context of UN sanctions --- just to get Iran to cave in, and accept voluntarily the West diktat. Not only that, but irrelevant demands for Iran to disclose its missile program were added into the toxic mixture. Such disclosure demand was not based on international law. Iran had in the meantime built a new, better secured facility. Iran notified IAEA eighteen months ahead of schedule. The IAEA rules call for a country to notify six months in advance of ANY MOVEMENT OF NUCLEAR MATERIAL TO NEW FACILITY. This facility is only a new building, and nuclear materials are not there. The embarrasing issue for Western intelligence is the fact that they did not know of this facility, and its purpose. When the Western press "discovered" the facility, it was completely obfuscated that Iran had already notified IAEA, and that their "discovery" was just for the mass consumption. The real question is, where is West going with this? The regime change attempt failed, and short of yet another war, any agreement with Iran will not be on the terms West had hoped for. Yet, a new war can only be conceived by a lunatic.
Iran is running out of oil. It is the responsible thing for a government to provide alternate energy for its people. However, there have been threats to the US by the President of IRAN. You can't blame the American people for being cautious. Many of our citizen died on 9-11-2001. We do not want to see another event like this. Nuclear energy is a great alternative way to fuel a country but there must be strict guidelines adhered to by every nation and responsible disposal and recycling of this awesome energy source.
Iran has every right to develop nuclear energy technology and US concerns one way or the other mean diddly squat. The US has more WMDs than the rest of the world combined if you ignore Russia. If Israel can have nuclear weapons why not Iran... even assuming they want them. Israel is the Key. If Israel has the right to attack any country they want based on a belief that country might be developing nuclear weapons then I guess Israels neighbours have the right to attack Israeli nuclear facilities. Iraq built a nuclear reactor above ground and it was destroyed by the Israelis, only an idiot would make the same mistake now. Iran earns export dollars from selling oil, it makes no sense for them to spend money to refine that into fuels to burn themselves to generate electricity when a nuclear power station can do it rather more efficiently without using up the export earning raw material. If the Iranian government really didn't care about their people BP and Mobile and Caltex would own all of Irans oil and the people of Iran would see no money at all. Instead the people of Iran benefit from the oil under their feet and they get a vote... more than can be said of Saudi Arabia.

If Iran is not attempting to build nuclear weapons, why have they gone to the immense trouble and cost of building two massive nuclear research facilities underground? Surely, the sensible path would be to build in the open and let the IAEA carry out their inspections? The threat of sanctions would be lifted and everyone would relax. It might be abetter idea for such a large oil producer to first build some oil refining capacity so they would not be obliged to buy petrol from neighbouring states at considerable expense - but that would only happen with a sane government that actually cares about their people.
