Excellent news, the massage is clear, we have very limited resources and we are not going to waste them on countering a continual expansive conventional pressure cooker environment. We will spend them on other better things. The release valve and pressure setting are clear to see. If Europe wants to keep on assisting in upping the pressure, well so be it, they know what the result will be. We will act to defend ourselves from overwhelming aggression, that is a certainty; when we will act is pretty clear. So now it's over to Europe to see how they want to play things, deploy military assets, they pop up on our target list. A nice simple transparent situation. We all have peace, or no one get's it. Call us MAD, but maybe not so, we will not wait, we have shown you this already, if our security is threatened, the decision will be made, we are resolute and comitted to our security. Now others better be as well. Not so nice to fight, when your home is disappearing in a flash. Europe's and Russia's security are interlinked, everybody better understand it, you can work to get rid of one, but remeber, in that you work to get rid of the other! Some support Europe from afar, history shows it is always from afar! So Europe needs understand that Europe defines its own fate, so act wisely, for each party holds the peace of the other and the hell of the other. Choose peace, it has the highest return for humanity!

"‘I think this is partly a PR stand,” says Sergey Utkin from the Institute of World Economy and International Relations. “Because people issue this sort of documents for the general public to read them. It is not for the military staff" Of course it is a PR stand. That is why it is made public. It wouldn't be a "PR stand" if it contained military secrets, would it? Secrets are for military personnel and top officials while warnings are (part of) a PR stand. In simple words I think that Russia is sending a clear message and a warning to USA and NATO that in case any missile (conventional interceptor missile or anything else) is fired on Russia it will respond by striking with the nuclear weapons! I think it is not only fair but also very responsible towards the whole world. If I prepared to use nuclear force as an preemptive strike against aggressor I would do my best to make sure that all the hypothetical enemies perfectly well understand what I am ready to do so that they can well think before they dare to do something crazy. Warnings as part of a PR stand could make everyone live longer.

Perhaps Russia would find it enlightening to run an objective investigation into why so many of its neighbours have been, and continue to be, so desperate to join NATO. Their sense of urgency is not the result of some wicked Western conspiracy, but reflects directly on Russia’s own past and present behaviour towards them. If Russia genuinely changed its behaviour it would remove the need its neighbours feel for NATO membership. NATO would never have advanced to the borders of Russia if, in the 1990s Russia had a leader and a Duma that were far-sighted enough to transcend the paranoia of Soviet-era thinking.

Count Cash, I just hope and pray that one of the 'Swans" that are flying to Venezuluea every week will inadvertenly launch a MIRV Nuclear warhead over the USA and then wait for the response and then here you complain how BAD America is by responding.

I totally agree with Count Cash...Russia new millitary doctrine (to strike without warning-at WISH-to wipe out complete states and nations in seconds, from the world map-FOREVER-) is a harsh one but I must say RIGHT AND CORRECT ONE TO THE BONE INDEED! This Russia decision is a pure product from outside, forced to become a law in power...There was no other way to go...Lessons from the past are not learn and instead to be happy to survive after so many aggressive, unprovoken wars wage on Russia true history-almost the very same states looking for one more time...It look to me that Russia is tired of so many forgivness given to you! They will pay you next time in full -I am sure of that 100%....Always from the west millitary powers roll to east(to the all 4 sides in the world) to kill and opress innorcent simple people who like to live and die a natural death...Make your move so we(all world) can after that live in peace...With this new law you are gone ALLREADY....Thanke you

MUTUALLY ASSURED DESTRUCTION {MAD} worked for decades. The problem with MAD today is that the wrong country could be destroyed by mistake. Too many countries have nukes and missiles to deliver them. It could ruin your whole day if your MAD intentions were mistakenly countered {a strike} when it was not your missile at all, but someone else's missile disguised as yours. Ever since the first atomic bomb exploded, ARMAGEDDON has been knocking on our doors. The GENIE is out of the bottle and can never be put back. Sooner or later NUKES will be used again somewhere in the world and next time it may be many times worse than the last time. Mankind has the propensity to use every type weapon ever invented.

@marzipan ... we all know that the neighboring countries are in a hurry to join nato because of economical reasons ... and they are trying to agitate russia on every possible occasion in order to get a negative response from russia so that can say ... you see this is why we want to join . Besides ... the real reason is ... the politicains of those countries have been bought completely... and Nato is trying to expand in all directions to achive a global domination .

Sierra Nevada Why are you waiting and praying for Russia accidentally drops nuclear warheads in the U.S? What makes you so sure of a U.S victory over Russia when Blackwater is training U.S marines and today mercenaries troops are better armed and much better prepared than U.S elite troops? What makes you be so boastful when the U.S has failed to defeat third world enemies? The world can see that the United States militaristic class wants to use war to end its economic decline. All Russia is doing is drawing a line on the sand and tell the American imperialists and their captive impotent European NATO members- do not think for a second that Russia will accept to be encircled. Russia has a good reason to protect its security. It is a nation with history of being devastated by wars of aggression.

It's hard to fight Russia because of its conditions but desperation always tempts the starving to steal a piece of bread. Thank God for Mongolia, right? I'm not a big fan of any nation except my homeland of Antarctica, Bless Cthulhu, but I'd like some piece of mind, so I hope you all destroy each other so the madness stops and we can having building morals for awhile instead of clamping paranoia of all or nothing. I hate my life. It has no value. I have no future.

The U.S. are never ready to realize the situations. They have lost all their wars, but they go on waging other wars. So it's better to be clear: if you come too close to my border, I destroy you.

To “Marzipan” “NATO would never have advanced to the borders of Russia if”, … (poor naive little boy! That is the point, an aim of NATO since 50s)…..” in the 1990s Russia had a leader and a Duma that were far-sighted enough to transcend the paranoia of Soviet-era thinking”. (Ooo…that’s what you know about Russian’s leader and Duma of 90s, I gees from Fox news, BBC, CNN).Please, stop to live in a “Zombie land”, think, “may be” Fox news, BBC, CNN and other media belong to some group of people, and those people have their aim, and delivery to you information, which you are swallowing, according to their interests, which are far from peace and democracy but power and money? Try to see the world with your own eyes, analyze the history and economy and you will find “enlightening”. Sorry for a bit impolite and sarcastic tone. Reed the history: how Russia use it weapons last 800 years (I am not kidding about a period of time) – for protection or aggression? And compare to Europe, Asia, America and England.

alessandro capece The reasons why the USA repeatedly wages wars even when it loses most of them is complex but I will mention four reasons: 1. the American war ideology is based on Hollywood movies. In Hollywood movies, U.S.A military is almost always represented in heroic light and this include anti-war Hollywood films such as Full Metal Jacket and Platoon. 2. unlike the Russia and the Germany, the U.S has no history of engaging wars in defense of their homeland/and or invading countries with strong military power[i.e. 1941 Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union] Thus the U.S has no history of knowing the implications of wars in which U.S. cities are bombed and citizens incinerated. This is also the reason why the majority of Americans are still convinced dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki brought peace to the world. The lack of historical experience of the devastating impact of war is why after the 9/11 terror attack that panic reigns in the U.S and their responses were clumsy and ad hoc. 3. Hollywood has prepared American collective psyche for the dubious contradictory logic that the U.S can continue bombing and incinerating cities full of people but no retaliatory reaction can ever come to the U.S .In this way, the U.S war mythology is based on an imaginary heroic wars which are always fought in far away lands or in outerspace or symmetry war against Arab and Muslim terrorists. 4. the U.S military mythology places strong faith in high technology warfare directed primarily on weaker enemies. This mythology cannot imagine a situation where the U.S might actually fight an army of equal or comparable military strength. This mythology of military supremacy permeates the very fabric of the U.S society and the U.S economy is enmeshed with militarism. The lack moral and political justification for waging wars is one of the reasons the U.S ruling elite are increasing using highly paid mercenaries rather than bring up the draft.

Russia's new nuclear doctrine sounds like the old west. In the wild, wild west gunslingers would shoot first and ask questions later. They would "go get em, dead or alive", much like the Bush and Osama saga. Now Obama is after Osama and it even rhymes so Obama will probably get Osama. Soon Osama will have run all the way to Moscow trying to escape the wrath of the gunslingers in hot pursuit
