Russian authorities first denied that these people were spies; the media shows what these people did could be obtained in the public domain with few clinks of a mouse at the computer terminal connected to the internet. But wait. Russia is willing to swap these people with real valuable spies with credible scientific knowledge! I must be missing something here!

Your aren't missing anything. There are a lot of people in denial posting on this web site. Russia sent spies, they were caught, Russia denied it all, now we have a trade going on. Typical.

WET Unless the U.S Justice department is withholding explosive evidence, there is no credible evidence that these people were spies, and if they wanted to be spies, they were not good at it. So, my point is why Russia is willing to exchange these pathetic cases with really valuable spies?

@WET ... US has "caught' some people ... try to accuse them of something ... failed .. cause they weren't able to find any evidence ... now they're trying to invent some ne accusations out of thin air ... just like with the Iraq WMD´s ... typical western tactics

May be that the valuable " knowledge " is not valuable at all . Anyway those so called spies in the US were not spies at all . They were just relaying economic information that can be found on the net ,,,,, Incidentally for the deluded people that are totally brainwashed by the US globalist philosophy I got wonderful news . The US is finally self destructing ..... economically, politically ,financially and now with the wonderful Gulf of Mexico disaster . Looks like the Southern states might have to be evacuated ...... Chernobyl strikes again .... FAntastic

As I said in another story blog, this is just an attempt for the FBI to justify it's continued miserable existance, by busting a few Russians for so-called spying (more like phony identification and not registering as foreign representatives). This information was so low level that all you needed was a computer,a shortwave radio and a police scanner radio. I use all three items, and regularly speak russian. This sounds more like a Boris and Natasha (Rocky and Bullwinkle) cartoon. Come on FBI, FOCUS ON RELIGIOUS EXTREMISTS AND TERRORISTS! Leave the Russians in peace!!

"So, my point is why Russia is willing to exchange these pathetic cases with really valuable spies?" Like I said. Denial. Russia wouldn't exchange these pathetic cases UNLESS there was good reason. The fact they were sloppy simply reflects on the state of Russia's intelligence community. Does it really hurt your ego that much to simply accept and admit they were spies and got caught?
