The extraordinary life story of “Jumpin’ Joe” Beyrle, a G.I. who managed to fight the Nazis in both the Soviet and US armies, is being celebrated in an exhibition in St. Petersburg.
To survive Nazi torture and in the end to have chance to fight them again ....also to met a living legend(at that time) general Zhukov(the best millitary leader ever born) is indeed a Great story! The hero see it all!He did fight on the right side in history. For the Usa WWII was the last war in wich their millitary fight for right reasons.... All the best to his hero family! Thanke you...
he was lucky not to get shot by NKVD or SMERSH for espionage
After making my own effort to understand the history of WII in the Eastern Front, I cannot see why Russia feels compel to give such an extraordinary honour to this soldier. This man’s deeds while honourable cannot me measured to degree of millions of Russian/Soviet Soldiers who did most amazing things the battlefields such as Kursk, or those who prevented the fascist tanks reach the entrapped Germany army in Stalingrad or those who defeated the Nazi army at the gates of Moscow. This exhibition sounds more of a PR bounding that exceptional bravery. Many Soviet soldiers have also excepted from Nazi slave camps and fought for the Red Army. Why are not been told of their names? P/S. I hope his son can work little harder to tell the U.S ruling elite their obsession and determination to encircle and the dismemberment of Russia is against with his father fought for.
This Soldier was made of the right stuff. "Jumpin Joe" Beyrle is a prime example of the GREAT GENERATION of both Russia and the United States. It was more common than not for the military people of that era to exceed all expections and perform hurculean tasks because of a deep sense of country and honor. Obviously, Russia respects this American/Russian HERO very much.. There should be a WORLD WAR II Memorial for all the great Heroes of that GREAT GENERATION and all who died in that terrible HOLOCAUST. It is unfortunate that Russia and the United States did not continue to be allies at the end of WWII. Hopefully our countries will be allies at some date in the future like during WWII.
Oh Katrina, Katrina There you go again. What do you know about war other than what you read on your favoritie communist books and aritcles. I could never speak your words becasue I too have not fought in a war .....so I keep my mouth closed when it comes to such stories. Maybe .....you should think about doing the same. Thank you RT
@nuta .. maybe you should consider not to speak at all ... i hear BS only coming from you
When humans cross over the imaginary line and realize, that discussing the balance of our planetary life as billions of life forms in the countless numbers, etc. in an idea of going beyond the war hero concept, the dignity of thinking intelligently can be actualized. Why not communicate the cooperation of so many years, that the idea of war hero is a total embarrassment, and then come to terms with how to be what has been touted as civilized, however, clearly war worship in any form here in the 21st Century is in need of examination in every known test, scientifically "medically," as well as the social sciences in thorough Pavlov forensics.
@Alex....or who ever you are I know the truth hurts but it has to be said... If I kept my mouh close then who would speak to the BS in this blog coming form such people like....well you know....
@nuta ... it's the hypocraty that disgusts me
Honor and praise the valiant American soldier!!!
